From tea to lifestory.

Everyone has a story! We at Teatells collect these lifestories. While you enjoy a cup of nice hot tea we brings these stories to your attention. Sip your tea, relax and enjoy a good story: the Teatells -way, bringing people together.

How it all began

Our story starts with Archbishop and member of the elders Desmond Tutu. In September 2012 Emmelie was invited to attend a broadcast of 'College tour', a Dutch Tv program, in which Students are given the opportunity to interview an important guest. In this case Desmond Tutu. Because there was an opportunity to ask questions Emmelie started doing a little research into the interesting life of our hero and she got inspired by Tutu. Tutu believes in the importance of storytelling in peacemaking. He believes that sharing stories creates mutual understanding and compassion. A wonderful idea that inspired Emmelie to create Teatells. In 2012 she started collecting stories. Soon, the idea came to combine these lifestories with tea drinking. Tea drinking is often seen as a social event, people meet and talk : Share stories. We started printing the collected stories on tea packages and in July 2013 our first tea packages where exhibited at the graduation exposition in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Not long after we opened our first online store.

What is a lifestory?

A life story describes (a part of) one's life. They can provide an overview of a whole life, but can also tell something about a particular period or theme. The stories that Teatells receives often tell something about a special event in someone's life or about a particular life phase.
